My wildflower experience on the hike the next day (the 4th) was completely different. I hiked to Ice Lake, at 12,400 feet. Because of the high elevation, the wildflowers were profusely abundant. It was an amazing day, filled with exquisite beauty!

The icebergs on yesterday's glacial lake boat adventure with our nephew and niece were true works of art!

Yesterday's glacier boat adventure with Bryan and Brittany Gallagher. They were so generous to give up their afternoon to take us on an adventure!

Yesterday, our nephew Bryan Gallagher and his wife Brittany took us on an adventure in their motor boat five miles up a river to two glacial lakes, one with an active glacier to which we came really close. It was a lot of fun, and the perfect finale to our awesome

The Spruce-laced meadows on the Parks Highway and at Denali, always with a backdrop of mountains, bring me a sense of Spaciousness, wildness, and a feeling of the Primordial. It seems like I'm inhabiting an ancient world that sends echoes down to the Present . . .
(Alaska, July 25, 2025)
We just spent three days at Denali National Park, which is an amazing wilderness landscape filled with grand vistas and abundant wildlife. We received just a glimpse of Denali, but were able to watch a blonde-hued Grizzly Bear and a Caribou!

The Alpine Savage Trail out of Savage Creek Campground is wonderful, for it takes the hiker high up into the alpine tundra. I thoroughly enjoyed the wide vistas, the wildflowers, and the sense of Spaciousness!

The alpine wildflowers at Denali are beautiful! Here are Fireweed, an alpine version of Monkshood, Arctic Gentian, and Alaska Blueberry.

"Ice is only another form of terrestrial love."
John Muir
Today's hike to Grewingk Glacier brought a sense of spaciousness and primeval beauty. The multitude of icebergs floating on the lake reminded me that each of us is a unique form of solidified spirit-water.

We spent a wonderful afternoon at the Alaskan Native Heritage Center in Anchorage. Our guide was an amazing woman from the Inupiat Nation in the Arctic. Just 18 years old, she is passionate about her culture, kind and warm-hearted. The dances were wonderful too!
