What's up with all the new books and social media buzz about trauma and religion? I spoke to some experts to find out. www.christiancentury.org/features/gro...

Watching CNN's moving reporting on Israeli lives lost before the actual ceasefire, and wishing we had similar reporting from Tehran. Every life is precious.

Has there ever been a time when violence has solved a political or cultural problem? Yet it seems to be the default setting for so many.

Grief is a great equalizer, but everyone experiences it differently.
My series of interviews on loss for Religion Unplugged begins with Sr. Sarah Hennessy. She is a spiritual director who has also lost many friends and mentors in her community.

Prisoner Brad Sigmon was executed by a firing squad on March 7 in South Carolina. If you thought you knew his whole story, says the Rev. Hillary Taylor, his spiritual advisor, you are probably wrong.

Hard to argue with this
18.03.2025 01:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0@sifill.bsky.social We don't even really know what Khalil thinks, beyond being pro-Palestinian. Apparently that's his "crime." All the "free speech" Republicans of the Biden era have disappeared... like they never existed.

28.02.2025 16:15 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you for the very reasonable words of encouragement. You're right, of course. We have to begin somewhere.
28.02.2025 16:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Comparing this era with that one, I do wonder: are a lot of us capable of the kind of focus those participants showed? As we are seeing, moving fast and breaking things is relatively easy: persistence and focus are slogs (which isn't an argument against them).

I am very curious about whether "ordinary" citizens are filing lawsuits to protect their personal information.
It's so incredibly sloppy. Of course, a lot of what Musk has done at Tesla is also sloppy. It's scary how many Americans are fans of disruption for the sake of disruption. Until of course, they come face to face with that disruption themselves.
18.02.2025 02:10 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Curious about why the left has, apparently, allowed the right to hijack the mantle of "free speech"...

I love the way this writer says we have no idea what Scalia would have thought or how he would have "evolved"...and then goes on to say that they, in fact, do.
14.02.2025 19:19 β π 25 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I didn't realize until I heard it on NPR this morning that Bove had worked on the January 6th cases.. as part of a team of NY prosecutors.
14.02.2025 18:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Acting deputy attorney general Emil Bove assembled DOJ's remaining public corruption prosecutors this morning and gave them an hour to find someone to sign the Eric Adams dismissal.
One of them agreed to do it, to spare the others from potentially being fired.

People who interact with this administration are being forced (like the official who dropped the case against Adams so his colleagues wouldn't get fired for not doing it) to make "damned if you do or don't" decisions. This is corruption personified.
