Yesterday #Polar5 arrived in Longyearbyen on #Svalbard and #COMPEX is ready to start. Tomorrow, we will have research flight one heading West over #NyAlesund towards the sea ice. Clouds, here we come. 🧪 #remotesensing #AC3

There have now been 100 aircraft under-flights of #EarthCARE, each providing invaluable information to calibrate and validate the data products. Back from the CONTRASTS expedition (July–Sept)!
We studied 3 types of Arctic sea ice, revisiting each site 4 times.

Definitely train whenever possible. Like last week from Cologne to Ireland, though there was some ferry included for the final step.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure they do the cryosphere, but for the heliosphere I would need to make some surveys or consult colleagues. But not in the night train.
Heading back to Cologne from a very inspiring #ESA #LPS25 in Vienna on an ÖBB Nightjet. Really enjoyed the time I spent and chats I had with all the people I met. What was again the reason for flying?
There are some polar orbiting microwave instruments on EUMETSAT platforms. Nevertheless, it is a disaster.
