It’s symbolic in the sense that, when has any verbal or non binding action done anything to stop Israels genocide. Sanctions Now.

And so they should! Our government has totally lost the plot. Most things coming out of the Middle East stem from Israels unpunished genocide of Palestinian civilians.

The beauty of a #nudeportrait is that it doesn’t need to be considered art to hold meaning, but it can still be art. What matters is that it respectfully captures and portrays the human in frame, honouring them as their own unique person!

We made a bunch of great photos together!

I love the contrast that can be achieved through working with direct sunlight. The way it interacts with human skin is stunning, capturing the reflective and detailed nature of our largest organ. This photo of Rose evaded me for months but it is one of my favourite nude portraits of her.

If Australia cared about racism, the voice to parliament would have been successful, if Australia cared about racism, our government would have taken action against Israel’s genocide… It’s pretty clear that racism is running rife here and around the world 😕

We both suffered from the freezing cold, clear sky conditions. Kaysea more-so, but the pleasant warmth of the sun was our reward for our commitment to the location and creating during winter!

Her upright, strong pose has her chest slightly pressed out, shoulders back and has her viewer-facing hand on hip, creating a triangle with her arm, through her elbow to shoulder. Her other arm rests by her side, mostly obscured from view. Her legs are straight but due to her side on position her front leg is fully visible while the furthest is mostly obscured but providing stability by a slight positioning to her rear, making the heel visible. Clear blue sky which is darkened by the black and white edit contrasts the light reflected by her skin as she stands atop a rocky platform beneath her feet. Shadowy trees in the background break up the lighter sky to the left of frame and along the lower 3rd of the frame. The frame is in portrait orientation and the woman fills the full height of the frame, but only occupies the middle most left hand quarter of the horizontal frame.

There are positives and negatives to both the summer and winter solstice. I love the long, light days of summer and the warmth but winter provides a different light, free from the intense, damaging UV rays that radiate and harm our skin.

It can absolutely be worth it, one of my favourite nude portraits is also under very similar conditions! Although digital. It was almost a photo I didn’t process due to the seemingly harsh conditions. It helped me learn to love bright sunny days 😊

Instability in the world is something none of us needs. End the invasion of Ukraine and the Genocide of Palestine.

Availability of diversity in commercial photography has probably really only been a thing over the past 10 years, less so before then. Even now it seems pretty limited and still mostly conservative. Nude diversity is a whole different thing and mostly still hiding on conservative platforms 😕

That's incredible to hear! It must be a thing then because I have spoken to a young woman with a similar family connection to having posed nude. I can imagine it would be very empowering and normalising to have a supportive parent.

Incredible! When I read your previous post about Nicole in 1994, I wondered if she would have continued with her modelling or how her life panned out after doing a nude shoot.
Globally, we don't see nearly enough representation of women beyond the ages of 30!
