05.08.2025 20:37 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Great to welcome Steve Reed Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to our CEO @linesmartin.bsky.socialΒ farm π± A valuable visit discussing how nature friendly farming can tackle climate, food, water and nature challenges while building resilient, profitable farms. π€π
31.07.2025 10:06 β π 6 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0Not productive in what? Food, nature, climate mitigation, water quality etc? Farmers now and in the future need to look at all their productivity from their landscape and be rewarded for it.
30.07.2025 11:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Very willing to discuss a range of different issues and keen to listen. Defra have a lot of areas of work going on and having the opportunity to discuss them and put across our NFFN farmers views is very important.
30.07.2025 08:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This afternoon I hosted Defra SoS Steve Reed on our farm. A great opportunity to show him around our farm and discuss nature friendly farming & lots of other topics. Farming is facing many challenges now & in the future. Having the opportunity to discuss things with the Steve Reed is very important.
29.07.2025 21:08 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Good to see the Lords spotlighting nitrogen pollution. Farmers want to do the right thing - but they need joined-up support to do it. More support for soil, nature, and resilient food systems.
This report gets that. Letβs make sure it turns into action. committees.parliament.uk/committee/51...

Great day on the @nffn.bsky.social stand @rspbengland.bsky.social Hope Farm #OpenFarmSunday event. Really good numbers of public attending. Great to see my local MP @iansollom.bsky.social attending and seeing how nature recovery and food production works together.

My latest opinion piece in this month's Crop Prodution magazine. π

Every farm Iβve spoken to lately is feeling the pressure.
Dry fields, shrinking support, and no clear sense of whatβs coming next.
If we want food on plates π½οΈ and nature in the field π±, weβve got to back farmers properly.

Itβs Nature Friendly Farming Week. Fields are dry, crops are under pressure, and a lot of farmers are having to make tough calls.
Iβve written with Natural England about why building resilience through nature-friendly farming matters more than ever.

Well done to all involved in organising it today ππ
We have failed to make a strong united case to the Government to the Treasury & to the public about the enormous value farmers deliver not just in food but in climate resilience nature recovery, water quality, flood mitigation, & public access @farmersguardian www.farmersguardian.com/blog/4413107...
06.05.2025 12:18 β π 26 π 17 π¬ 4 π 5Our in field margins are starting to look great and over the last few years weβve added them to all our fields every 90-120m. Receiving public funded support to deliver these and cover the cost allow us to deliver them. Supporting nature recovery on farms supports food security.
03.05.2025 09:29 β π 11 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks @alistrathern.bsky.social for hosting this roundtable of MPs and farmers in Westminster to discuss how support for farming and nature must go hand in hand π€. βAs well as producing the food we eat, our farmers are the stewards of the countryside and nature that makes our country so special.β

We cannot ask British farmers to maintain high environmental and animal welfare standards while opening the door to imports produced under significantly weaker regulationsπ

Bit of building work today to repair a barn thatβs 140 years old. One of those jobs thatβs been on the list for a while. Hopefully when all finished we will have a barn we can use for larger groups of people thatβs better than a open barn we currently use. Always more to farming than people think π¨βπΎ

04.04.2025 19:15 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Great to speak to @luciemheath.bsky.social for @theipaper.com Growing maize for biogas might be good business for some - but itβs taking up high-grade farmland, pushing up land and rent prices, and delivering poor environmental returns. π

Many of you will have noticed the increased focus both in policy & in the media on how we use our land & what it can deliver for society. Farmers are no longer solely being asked to produce food the their land but deliver increasingly multifunctional landscape
