For people whose mantra is often “facts over feelings”, they sure do hate facts about themselves.
If you’d told me these headlines 5 years ago were inevitable i’d probably have walked into the closest forest

Hey so the history books all just caught fire- what does that mean?
In shocking news, left wing people vote for party led by guy saying left wing stuff, centrists more angry at this than the lies their guy keeps spouting.
“i cry when I read books about the civil rights movements, flabbergasted that people could imagine mistreating human beings that way, but also trans people’s rights are stopping us being in power so we should abandon them to win”- a person whose politics is progressive like cancer, not socially.
“i cry when I read books about the civil rights movements, flabbergasted that people could imagine mistreating human beings that way, but also trans people’s rights are stopping us being in power so we should abandon them to win”- a person whose politics is progressive like cancer, not socially.
I also find, from my time Amongst Them™️ , that they are convinced that “my level of progressive is the correct level, and anyone else is wrong”, but their level of progressive is “I like all social movements except for this current one”, meaning they like the work to already be done.
The worst type of prick on this site are the ones who are like “oh im just clamouring to vote for the greens- Except for this one specific thing” then you check their profile and it’s clear they’d rather chew their own foot off.
They really do
1 want the racist vote
2 think we’re stupid
British politics in a nutshell. “We’re wrong, but changing your mind looks weak so we’ll just keep being wrong“
Also, relatedly, if anyone knows of a book agent/publisher who may be interested in a book looking at the erosion of rights, particularly migrants and LGBTQIA+ globally and how, conversely, this can mobilise support for progressive policies please let me know.
Btw, not necessarily substack👇
i Doubt any Labour people were brave enough to show their faces given the understandable reception they’d get
Really significant, I think, that the leaders of the Greens and Lib Dems were very visible at Transmission, very happy to publicly demonstrate a commitment to the dignity of trans people. But the Labour frontbench, which still likes to cosplay respect for human rights, was nowhere to be seen.
Literally me right now
‘Uphold reality’ from the “a magic man in the sky made the world exist and doesnt stop genocide but he gets real mad if two guys kiss” crowd is so funny
Gym nerd talk for “why am I so weak“
Why are incline dumbbell presses so hard 😭
Better than mine that Wes Streeting looks like someone dehydrated a slice of Billy bear ham and wrapped it around a cat skull
Today was the 30th anniversary of Scotland’s first and only school shooting, which is also a day to remember how a right-wing tabloid cyberstalked the survivors waiting for them to turn 18, in order to run a front page smear attack on them for…having grown up to be normal teenagers on the internet.
There are still people in the world who take Ian Leslie seriously. Those people also think his execrable Beatles book is worth reading.
One in every seven people killed in Lebanon by Israel is a child.
Yet there are no headlines about Israel's continued massacre of children.
After October 7th it was all we heard about Hamas, who killed a fraction as many children as Israel has since.
It's brazen, public, hypocrisy.
They want NHS doctors and nurses to be white with a home country accent but ignore the spiralling wait lists.
I'm so, so sick of living in a country where the stupidest, most fragile, ignorant people just keep winning elections.
These people are the sort who exist in such numbers that they keep winning elections and they wonder why the quality of life here is so low. It's because they want to see flags flying everywhere but ignore the crumbling buildings they're attached to.
We're a country absolutely held in thrall to the opinions of people who scream about gesture politics when we have days to remember dead queer people, but who don't get that getting apoplexy about seeing a dead prime minister on currency is the very embodiment of gesture politics.
This entire thing is emblematic of the british right.
A poll was sent out, people voted for animals on banknotes & the bank is producing them.
The british right sees asking people's opinions as tyranny and is focused more on Churchill's bean face on money than the lack of it in people's pockets.
That's what gets me the most. These guys have put themselves in the naughty corner by behaving badly to people with the power to say no, and the whole fuckin' internet has to hear about it, day after day after day.
Im honestly so over it, it's driving me to actual madness.
