So yeah...PAX East 2025 was surreal. I finally achieved what I set out to do 8 years ago & it’s just the beginning. I can’t wait to help more games, attend more conventions & continue spreading the word about these incredible games.

Over four days, we hit nearly 1,000 wishlists on Steam, got interviewed by @ign.com (youtu.be/hKqbUGv3JXQ)
& connected with creators & players excited about the game.

The response was amazing! People told me they discovered games they wouldn’t have otherwise played & many hoped we’d run the event again next year.

People who joined the quest were sent on a mission to visit each participating indie booth, play our demos, get a stamp from us & return their completed stamp card to myself to win a custom trading card pack featuring characters from all our games.

I designed the booth, worked with a small indie budget, got us into the @pinnyarcade.bsky.social & I hosted a stamp rally I called the Indie Game STAMPede Quest where I teamed up with 14 other indies to create a gameified experience for attendees.

Fast forward 8 years to last week & I was back at #PAX, but this time I was the exhibitor. My blog is now my indie game marketing company nerdershewrote LLC. And now I was on the other side of things, answering questions about the game I'm doing marketing for, Sol Mates.

So I launched my blog, nerdershewrote, writing about indies & interviewing devs. That turned into social content, then into weekly Twitch streams featuring a new indie game each week. Most people waited for the weekend to relax but I couldn’t wait to stream.

I started chatting with the guy in denim & turns out, he was the dev. That conversation sparked something in me: I want to work with indie games! (shoutout Beethoven & Dinosaur & @annapurna.com !)

To which a guy in a denim jacket working the booth cranked up the speakers & put the controller back in my hand demanding I finish the demo.

By the end I was in love with the game ❤️

The game's visuals caught my eye so I picked up the controller, put on the headphones & was transported to a psychedelic musical sci-fi world called #TheArtfulEscape. I could feel a crowd form around me. I felt bad for taking up space & started to take my headset off.

I wanted to jump in but I also felt embarrassed to play in front people. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a gamer, but not a very good one. I turned a corner to a booth with no lines (a rarity at PAX).

I still remember my first PAX East & going down the escalators of the Boston Convention Center. I was so overwhelmed. It was my first game convention ever & before me was a massive show floor packed with booths from AAA studios to tiny indie teams. I didn’t know where to start.

Let’s go back to 2017 when I was a Story Producer in Unscripted TV working on Dual Survival. My editor told me about PAX & offered me an extra ticket. Knowing my love for games he figured I’d want to go.
