Thank God Labour is tackling this

So, thanks to some London Nimbys
- we had a two year delay
- it cost the tax payer because of the court appeal
- it cost the developer because of inflation
- brownsite remained undeveloped
- children missed out on good education
- tax payer paid extra for private SEND provision.

BOX 1: EXAMPLES OF SUCCESSFUL APPEALS TO REFUSALS BY PLANNING COMMITTEES
Mixed use development on a vacant brownfield site in London. This site was allocated in the
Local Plan for residential and educational use. In Autumn 2021, an application for planning
permission was submitted for a development on the site consisting of approx. 120 residential
apartments and a special school for 90 pupils. Planning officers recommended to the planning
committee in Summer 2022 that planning permission should be granted. The planning
committee decided to refuse it. An appeal was made by the applicant and the Inspector, in
early 2024, agreed the appeal should be upheld and granted permission. (London Borough)
This example of Planning Committees getting in the way of good ideas is particularly egregious
Especially considering the shortage of special needs places in schools, and the massive cost to the taxpayer because of that

NEW: strike action at LNER suspended
Train drivers have reached a resolution with the company regarding the breaking of agreements. Strike action scheduled for weekends between 31 August and 10 November is therefore suspended. We look forward to normal working resuming.
Huh turns out the narrative lasted less than a month
