One day I hope to be able to do photojournalist/documentary work too; the last time I documented a protest was back in 2017. Maybe I'll upload some of that here since it's unfortunately still timely-- but I also need to get back to it.

It's part of getting the message out!

But looks like I don't have to wax poetic about it at all to you! I see that you're also a fellow pano enjoyer. :)

Thank you! This is more or less the only format I've shot since 2016, when I got the camera and immediately fell in love with it. At this point, it's just the way I see the world.

Voted for Kamala, Biden, Obama. Try again-- but it's clear you don't want to read political theory, you just want a feel-good narrative.

Practical politics is about more than hewing to the middle every time, nor is it ultimately able to "follow" a party's leading edge.

This has little to do with the "direct" power Shumer has and everything to do with the broad loss of confidence that is following. The man has never been inspirational, nor has he proven especially apt at maintaining a coalition during minority years.

On that basis, he's got to go.

That leaves us with the question of "what do we do with Shumer", who has been ineffectual at best at doing what a minority party leader needs to do-- keep voters engaged both before and after an election (especially when the election in question is *not* a pivotal one, like the midterms/prezzies).

- The Epstein release recovers some of that, but it remains imperative that the Democratic Party recovers both its moderate and liberal wings.
- This is because there simply isn't enough time for a major party realignment before the midterms, or even practically 2028 (in my opinion).

- Success regarding the shutdown is about the strategic positioning of both major parties, not the tactical. It has major implications for how the midterms are likely to go since there's a major puncturing of Democratic momentum.

- The average voter doesn't know enough about politics to understand the finer details, and they're apt to blame the party leader-- especially on something as visible as the shutdown cave.
- This makes it likely that *regardless* of if Shumer deserves blame, he's unlikely to carry voter confidence.

Here's the deal with this type of response (coming from someone who has always hewed to the politically practical):
- The idea of conserving political capital only works if you use it eventually.
- Shumer has had years to become a very unpopular politician who is becoming harder to associate with.

Also if it runs late I might be able to hit the tail end of it haha

(this is assuming, of course, that any one tool could ever cater to everyone's cultural, social, and accessibility needs)

The Fediverse is about as close as you'll come because the federated protocol is just a backbone and you can instance hop, but I don't know any frontends that fulfill the above.

The perils of modern communication. There are so many tools out there that you almost can't help but end up with fragmented messaging across your different social groups.

And the worst thing about it is that it's hard to encourage any kind of centralization because it becomes a SPOF.

I'd like to come to this, both to support and to document, but unfortunately this is slated right at the tail end of work hours and I doubt I'll be able to make it.
