I’m going to miss this place! The Capitol is closing for a major renovation, and our next few sessions will be in a temporary chambers. This is a special place to work, and I’m already looking forward to returning.

Happy (almost) sine die from the Kentucky Senate!

Senate Bill 120, my bill to train high school coaches on how to report child abuse, just cleared the House! I’m grateful to House members for their support and Rep. Truett for carrying it on the floor (and adding some amendments to make it better!)

This week I passed SB 120 out of the Senate. This bill would give high school students, parents, and coaches more information about how to report child abuse. I’m grateful to my colleagues for their unanimous support, and to all the cosponsors and partners who helped craft this legislation.

Excited to add this one to the bookshelf! This research project was possible because of some wonderful partners, and I’m so glad to have it published. Thank you to the Kentucky Law Journal for all their help on this piece!

I had a special guest join me in the Senate today! My kids motivate and inspire the work I do, and it’s always special when one of them can join me on the floor.

Today members of the General Assembly are meeting at the Old Capitol. The legislature stopped meeting here in the early 1900s when our current Capitol was built. But we still come back occasionally to remember and celebrate our history.

A lot of Kentucky programs are impacted by President Trump’s decision to freeze federal assistance. As a mom of young kids, I’m particularly worried about the impact on childcare assistance for low-income families. My statement below. 👇

Today I was sworn in for my first full term as a state senator. I’m grateful to the people of Jefferson-19 for the opportunity —it’s an honor to serve!
