your analysis of this political moment is going to fail if you keep using reductionist labels like "wine mom". first of all, there are dozens of factions just within that one term, from whiskey women to chardonnay chicas, and understanding their unique informal coalitions can take decades of study

you might have found out already but the ramblas can be pretty sketchy at night, lots of pickpockets, they might pretend to play soccer with you or touch your private parts as a distraction

Anthropic agrees record $1.5 billion payout to resolve copyright lawsuit with authors The first-of-its-kind deal in the era of generative AI is hailed 'a resounding victory'

Blimey. Overdue, but important. Now do the UK please:

AI firm Anthropic has "agreed to pay at least $1.5 billion to resolve a copyright dispute with authors โ€” a record amount in US copyright settlements...

"Anthropic will pay rights holders $3,000 for each book it obtained from pirated datasets."

German car industry loses 50.000 jobs in Germany in a single year. Compared to 2019, there are 245.000 fewer industry jobs.

Yet, in the public discussion the China shock factor does not play any significant role.

I like Pompidou centre but it's closed for renovation, I mostly walked round and took pictures when I was there, I expect there are loads of museums, we went to a science museum place in 1989 which was good and which provided brief respite from French blokes making lewd remarks about my sister

Having a Madame Bovary summer is all about:

-cheating because you're bored
-imagining what Paris must be like
-little treats you can't afford
-ignoring your child
-knowing exactly where the pharmacist keeps the arsenic (just in case)
-hiding in bushes

Some people keep saying "AI isn't just probabilities, AI understands," and then AI puts a toilet next to the office desk, both of which are in the kitchen with no sink.

This is not something an entity would do if it "understood" what those things are.

yes, it's fine sometimes, for example there was this lady in pc world who called me sir in the dirtiest way imaginable

I'm also not a fan of being called sir by people in stores etc, also "boss" which one guy called me, made me feel most uncomfortable

there was a good dutch documentary a few weeks ago about how nation states have evolved from people who were basically gangsters in history, all the english upper classes were descended from norman lords who were given land by william the conquerer as a thank you for helping him rape and pillage.
