A woman on a balcony, holding a bouquet of red carnations, gives one of them to a soldier passing below, placing it on the muzzle of his gun while he looks up at her. All round, other soldiers walk beside him, some wearing red carnations on the muzzles of his guns too, others waiting for their turn. On the background, Portuguese tiles frame the woman, while the balcony's railing slowly transforms into a streetlamp typical of Lisbon (with a caravel and 2 ravens, the symbols of the city).
