With those rare books and this new training I'd move into a cataloging 4 classification. This is so perfect AHHH
I'm not interested in librarianship because I don't want to actively write and research at this point. Cataloguer class 4 is a dream. 🤤

It's going to look so good though. My FAC supe and I are dreamily long-term planning bc a lot of people are aging out of the work force in our library and once I'm deep into this I'll need rare book training in Virginia to handle some of the older (and rarer) material.

My annual review is next week so I'm going to bring up the refocus. We're a state-funded uni library so stats matter and this will be a serious hit to my very good stats.

I'm fully ready to shoot my focus from EC, which is a project that will literally never be finished, onto this. 14000~ books. If I drop EC and focus (Gallup) collection, I can have it done is three years. If I still handle some EC for stat purposes, it may be 5-10.

We've got a collection that we were given 20+ years ago. Only 300~ books have been catalogued from it. This guy and his family are HUGE donors to the uni. They've been begging the library to focus on getting these into the catalog.. but they didn't have me yet. 😏
