SEARING HOT TAKE #2: I think Operator is good! I think we underrate Pigpen as a harmonica player. He's got chops, that Operator solo rips. I recently heard a jam of him and Jerry trading off licks and it was great. Real melodic, real soulful.

On this day in 1981, the Grateful Dead played "Man Smart, Woman Smarter" for the first time.
