Amen. I’m disappointed that so many Mainers appear to be Nazi-curious.

We all grieve in different ways.

I don’t have an article. I’m a lawyer, and I’ve read what’s on the court’s docket for this case. The reason you haven’t heard anything is because nothing of substance has happened after the initial filing.

The lawsuit is a mess. Part of the problem is that Plaintiffs didn’t ask Judge McFadden to do anything quickly. In fact, Plaintiffs took nearly a week to get a summons issued, which means that the Gov’t. won’t even have to answer the lawsuit until the week before Thanksgiving, at the earliest.

There is a good legal argument to be made under existing law that would allow a federal judge in D.C. to administer the oath of office. Given Johnson’s recalcitrance, what would be the harm in trying this alternative route?

Nearly 16 million working Americans use SNAP. Raise wages to a point those working Americans can afford to feed their families, and SNAP can be reduced.

That marriage is over. It’s only a matter of time before it’s legally dissolved.

That’s a fact, unless you are someone who is cool with Nazi iconography. Are you?

We could debate which Nazi icons are most prominent, but that loses the point. Fact is, certain iconography invokes the Third Reich. The totenkopf is one of those icons. Platner got and kept a totenkopf for 20 years. That’s disqualifying for some of us and bad no matter how you look at it.

Absolutely. It says I’m not cool with Nazis.

“I don’t have a Nazi tattoo” seems like it ought to be an easy litmus test for a Democratic candidate U.S. Senate to pass.

The totenkopf features in EVERY movie with Nazis you’ve ever seen. Not to be mean, but if you don’t recognize it as a Nazi symbol, then you’ve not been paying attention.

Getting and keeping (for 20 years) a Nazi tattoo on your skin suggests a thing or two about the content of your character.

Sounds like United Airlines might need the Target treatment.

This is *literally* the same reasoning people tried to use to justify segregated housing and Jim Crow.

I haven’t said anything about communism, but the totenkopf is second only to the swastika in Nazi iconography. You’ve seen it in every movie set in that time period. Plus, Platner kept the tattoo for a significant time after knowing, unequivocally, what it was. That’s problematic.

Lifelong purity tests ARE insane because people do change over time. It’s also insane, however, to ignore a Nazi tattoo that the guy had for 20 years and just recently covered. If he’s really a changed man, let him prove it in a lower office first. Senate is too big of a gamble.

“I didn’t have a Nazi tattoo for 20 years” ought to be a pretty easy “purity test” for a U.S. Senate candidate to pass. Don’t you think?
