It's important for everyone across the country to know what is happening here in Minnesota. I was thankful for the opportunity to join PBS NewsHour and share some of what I am seeing.
This administration can "punish" our city, and they can "punish" our state, but they will never break our spirit.
This incident is important to me personally, but thatβs not why it matters. Every single βraidβ across our city and state involves someone who is important to someone.

15.01.2026 03:14 β π 50 π 19 π¬ 4 π 2Today, I joined with @mayorjacobfrey.bsky.social & Mayor Her to announce a joint lawsuit to end the unlawful and unprecedented surge of ICE agents in Minnesota.
People are being racially profiled, harassed, terrorized, and assaulted.
It has to stop.
AG Keith Ellison, Minneapolis and St Paul mayors announce plan to sue federal government.
Ellison: "This is in essence a federal invasion of the Twin Cities."

Know Your Rights graphic explaining what to do if immigration agents come to your home. It states that ICE needs a judge-signed warrant to enter, people do not have to open the door, can ask to see a warrant through a window or under the door, and can keep the door closed if there is no valid judge-signed warrant. A link to stpaul.gov/immigration-resources is included.

09.01.2026 18:02 β π 13 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0This week has been incredibly heavy for all of us. I wanted to share some thoughts, reflections, and actions weβre taking to stand up to this unprecedented incursion into our city.
Please know you are not alone. We are fighting back.
We cannot let them turn us against each other. Standing together is the only way we will get through these next few years.
Please be safe.
I am heartbroken. Renee Nicole Good should still be alive.Β
I urge everyone to use caution as you express your right to protest this horrific action by federal law enforcement. These agents are unprepared for this job, and you should not put yourself in harmβs way because of their lack of training.

07.01.2026 18:08 β π 19 π 5 π¬ 2 π 0I am closely monitoring the situation in Minneapolis. My heart is broken for the victim, their family, and our community as a whole. I join Mayor Frey in demanding that ICE leave our cities immediately before they cause any further harm.
07.01.2026 18:08 β π 47 π 8 π¬ 1 π 2I may be the first, but I won't be the last! Let's get to work, Saint Paul!
06.01.2026 18:03 β π 17 π 2 π¬ 3 π 0Our state is better because of his leadership, I am a better public servant because of his example, and I will always be grateful for his partnership. I look forward to working with him over the next year as we make progress for all Saint Paulites.
05.01.2026 19:21 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I worked closely with the Governor when I was chair of the Pensions Committee to ensure that all Minnesotans get the retirements they deserve, when we increased the English Language Learner subsidy after it sat stagnant for decades, and passing tenant protections for renters so they have rights.
05.01.2026 19:21 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Governor Walz led our state through extraordinary times with grace and a steady hand. We owe him a debt of gratitude.
05.01.2026 19:21 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Happy New Year, Saint Paul! π This past year has been one of the most sentimental and profound chapters of my life. Serving you is the honor of a lifetime.
Thank you for the trust youβve placed in me. Letβs make this year our best one yet. Happy New Year!
Congratulations to Fire Chief Butch Inks on his retirement today after 31 years of service to our city! I am so impressed by his care for staff, our city, and the work of keeping us all safe. We will miss his leadership in the city. Thank you, Chief!

Truly an inspiration to us all, Melissaβs legacy is defined by her immense heart and her dedication to others. She led with both wisdom and kindness. To have worked with her was a gift, and to have known her as a friend was an honor. We carry her memory with us, though we miss her dearly every day.

Iβll be walking away with new tools for city management and roadmaps for fresh funding and foundation partnerships. I can't wait to put these insights to work for Saint Paul!
