The 75th Annual Conference of the International Communication Association (#ICA25), set for 12-16 June in Denver Colorado, USA, is shaping up to be ICA’s largest conference yet, tracking with Toronto and Paris in terms of preregistration numbers. Current rhetoric and actions in some US communities run counter to ICA’s commitment to ensuring the full and equal participation of all members of our global academic community and conflict directly with ICA's IDEA principles.

Our immediate plan includes the following interventions, which aim to preserve your right as scholars to freely present your work and collaborate with your peers: As always, we have made standard invitation letters for visa purposes available via the submission website: you can find your letter attached to your profile in ScholarOne (the submission system). As of 19 February, we have done a new run of all letters without the title of the paper(s) mentioned; papers are identified by submission ID number so that your research topics are not mentioned. You may find these new letters in your profile as well.

Die FPÖ ist natürlich nicht „sozialistisch“.
Sie bewegt sich auf der links-rechts Skala in Wirtschaftsfragen im höheren mittleren Bereich. Auch im Vergleich zu anderen rechtsradikalen Parteien ist sie nicht besonders „links“ (vgl Grafik). Sozialdemokraten stehen deutlich weiter links (rote Punkte).

Ja klar, das mit dem Hut is was anderes. Aber den Hitlergruß auf der Bühne im Kontext der Amtseinführung eines US Präsidenten muss man doch nur als Zäsur deuten.

Dass die Begnadigung wild ist wollt ich auch garnicht bestreiten. Kam halt vielleicht nur weniger überraschend.

Ich sehe bei der Thematisierung dessen auch nicht die Gefahr, die skandalösen Absichten und Handlungen zu verkennen. Vielmehr lässt das die Verbindung zu europäischen Rechtsradikalen nur besser einordnen.

Mich erschrecken ehrlicherweise eher die Kommentare, die das herunterspielen. Mein Eindruck ist, dass das ein weiterer riesen Schritt in der Verschiebung des Sag-/Machbaren ist. Möglicherweise einer, an den wir uns noch lange erinnern werden, wenn wir uns dann fragen, wie es so weit kommen konnte.
