Dammit you’re 100% right. I always forget the “tinfoil hat / freedom isn’t free” contingent is pretty strong here. And to boot: the messaging would get swizzled so that conservatives would rally because “big government something something” (big eye roll at gov contracting)

One would think… that if it’s important to the government to collect taxes and audit (it really is) that they would make it as easy as possible (they haven’t ever).

So ofc there’s going to be pushback, there’s an entire billion dollar market based off of this failure.
