A section of melted boardwalk, part of which is completely burnt through fills the bottom three quarters of the photo. There is green vegetation to both sides, a small information board top left, and a piece of red and white tape across an unburnt section of boardwalk top right.

❗ ANNOUNCEMENT ❗

It's not currently possibly to safely or easily walk the full length of the Lye Valley after some mindless vandal(s) set fire to part of the boardwalk last night. The City Council are aware of the situation, and are visiting today.

Thank you to all who came to support our Open Gardens event on a hot sunny afternoon yesterday. Income from this event helps the Friends in its support of the Conservation Area, as we have done for over 65 years now. We also support other local charities with aims and objectives similar to our own.

If you see fire engines on the John Radcliffe Hospital site this evening and next week, please don't worry – our friends at Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue are carrying out training exercises in the vacated Ivy Lane buildings.

Mews building in Headington. Photo: Headington News

A modern block of flats in Headington may have to be demolished after a planning inspector concluded the original building plans were misleading. The plans mis-stated the height of the music shop next door, such that the final building was built β€œsignificantly taller than planned”.

A snow covered boardwalk with just animal tracks runs from the bottom centre of the photo, winds round to the right before running down a valley. In the foreground at the right is a brown and green Greater Tussock Sedge. In the mid distance on the left a group of green, ivy covered small trees, to the right, leafless trees growing down a slope. There are aa few trees in the far distance.

Just the lightest dusting of snow here first thing this morning, and even that is already melting.
