"Where will the water come from? (Aquifer? Lake? Reservoir? River?)"
Our September 2025 newsletter has questions to help determine the #water footprint of planned #DataCenters and #CCS projects.
If you can't get answers, that's important info in its own right.

Sweating for Science: SPH Measures Heat Where Bostonians Work, Play, and Live
As the summer heat intensifies in Boston, teams of SPH researchers have deployed a variety of sensors across the city to assess heat exposure among vulnerable residents and evaluate coolingโฆ
The City of Boston is working with Boston University's School of Public Health on temperature sensing projects to understand and address extreme heat exposure across Boston's neighborhoods. @boston.gov @bostonu.bsky.social

Researchers can fight these attacks by spreading insights into how fed funded research works, and sharing how we serve the public with the fed dollars we work hard to earn.

How Federal Funding Propels the SPH Research Making a Difference in Peopleโs Lives
With federal research funding cuts looming for academia and medical centers across the US, we take at look at how federally funded research at SPH has produced tangible results that benefit real lives...
How has federal health research funding made your life better? If you or a loved one are a veteran, are at risk of dementia, have tried to get pregnant, work outdoors in the heat, or are at risk of HIV/AIDS, below are examples of research that made a difference.

Iโm glad this is getting broader attention. But letโs dispense with the โresearchers sayโ framing. If this cut holds, which applies to ongoing work effective Monday, health research and jobs will be imperiled. Few institutions can absorb this cut without layoffs or other drastic measures.
