So this semester, I’m hoping to develop the approach further as part of a case study for my Advanced HE Fellowship — diving more into social learning theory, belonging, and activating prior knowledge. I’ll share more on the theory side tomorrow.

When I visited Brown University in 2024, I sat in on a seminar where students started by sharing “pre-critical reflections” on the week’s topic. Simple idea, but it really stuck with me — a way of connecting their own experiences to the theory in focus.

I teach digital culture at King’s, thinking about how technologies meet bodies: BCIs, VR, wearables, robotics, biosensing, tracking… all that good/strange stuff.
