Early career research fellowship case study: Lecturer in Digital Culture and Technology
Read Dr Ned Barker's case study on early careers fellowships.
Applying for funding can feel daunting — so I’ve shared a short reflections on my experience applying for a Leverhulme ECF
If you’re thinking about applying (or supervising someone who is), I hope it offers some useful insights

So this semester, I’m hoping to develop the approach further as part of a case study for my Advanced HE Fellowship — diving more into social learning theory, belonging, and activating prior knowledge. I’ll share more on the theory side tomorrow.

Trailed this last year in our Digital Health MA module @kingsdh.bsky.social
Seminars began by inviting students to share a story or thought that connects them to the week’s theme before we dive into the exercises. Gut tells me that conversations became richer as a result...

When I visited Brown University in 2024, I sat in on a seminar where students started by sharing “pre-critical reflections” on the week’s topic. Simple idea, but it really stuck with me — a way of connecting their own experiences to the theory in focus.

Dusting off old books, diving back into educational theory ahead of term.
it’s been a while since I worked in a school of education — excited to revisit ideas on critical #Pedagogy, social learning and communities of practice while prepping for my #AdvanceHE Fellowship this year

Moved across from Twitter but haven’t really posted — so, getting started (again).
I teach digital culture at King’s, thinking about how technologies meet bodies: BCIs, VR, wearables, robotics, biosensing, tracking… all that good/strange stuff.
Sharing fragments, experiments, and half-baked ideas.

I'm an effective altruist mainly reading and boosting posts, but occasionally I'll muse and doodle about effective altruism. I take a balanced approach, so will highlight under-represented views—my opinions will no doubt become apparent :)
