The Nazi propaganda is now published in "prestigious" US journal. What does that tell us about the US as leader of science, especially social science. Time to move on. What will be the next home of psychology (Germany - 1933, US 1945-2025, ? 2025-).

Next step: Call defaults dumb priors
Next next step: drop the dumb because they are all dumb
Final step: the peril is in the priors.

I think I said it before, but it is worthwhile repeating.
The devil is in the defaults.
Defaults allow non-experts to run complex models that they do not understand, and no defaults work well in all situations.

Meta-Psychology is so much better than US for-profit, closed science journals like Perspectives or AMPPS (even the US-based OSF says so). US brands dominate markets, but is Coke really the best option?

What is worse for science: a fraudulent original article with a few citations or publishing a bad method that is used in hundreds of studies? Asking my friends at @datacolada.bsky.social. P-curve is worse than useless.

Think meta-analytically is easier said than done. Forest plots are nice, but what if there is bias? How do you teach about bias, bias detection, and bias correction? Here is a tutorial about z-curve (the better p-curve).

Reanalyzing Head et al. (2015): investigating the robustness of widespread p-hacking Head et al. (2015) provided a large collection of p-values that, from their perspective, indicates widespread statistical significance seeking (i.e., p-hacking). This paper inspects this result for ro...

is this the criticism you mentioned. So, yes, not a good example of a left-skewed p-curve. It would require hand-coding of focal hypotheses with exact p-values, as we would get from a traditional meta-analysis.

So, do you have one? I also have looked and mostly p-curve is used to say it is right-skewed, there is evidential value, and there is no publication bias.

My AI's answer when I asked it to find a meta-analysis that reports a left-skewed p-curve.

"I haven’t found a peer-reviewed meta-analysis that shows a left-skewed p-curve and concludes no evidential value. Such cases seem exceptionally rare."

Anybody?

The results are interesting (thanks for the figure). The post is misleading. P-values below .05 should attract more attention than those above .05. The issue here is that just below .05 attracts more attention than .01 (not .06). That is wrong and worthy of investigation.

Psychological Science serves the interests of APS. Making Simine Vazire the editor is like Unilever selling "Ben and Jerry's" ice-cream. Prestige does not align with open science.

Check my blog posts. They can reason and they do not have the motivated biases of "peers"
You can argue with them and convince them.
And they will get better.
In psychology, there is no progress.

This is a good one. We should have open trials with judges or juries or let AI decide who has the better arguments. The anonymous peer review system is flawed.

I wonder why Psych Science doesn't want to publish an article that shows no benefits of open science badges. I guess open science does not want to publish work that does not support open science. Maybe we need open open science.

Multiple studies is the worst of these changes (if that is what is happening in experimental political science). As I pointed out in 2012 in response to the p-hacked multiple study articles, one costly good study is better than 10 shitty ones.
