I’d argue in its current state, that timeframe is wildly optimistic

5. Ultimately war would be bleak and painful. All the more reason to support the Ukrainians who have spent 3 years doing the heavy lifting on our behalf and depleting Russian capacity to fight long term.

4. Taken British Army numbers in isolation is pointless, we wouldn’t fight in isolation.

Britain would play a small-medium sized role in a NATO response. Our one potentially two divisions would be part of a wider force, not the entirety of it.

3. Inevitably, there would be a surge of support to aid the national effort.

This combined with action taken to recruit en masse would see the Army’s numbers surge.

2. In the event of peer on peer war, the British Army would increase seismically in many ways.

Service liability means all those who are under 55 but have left service in the last 18 years would be called to service, me included *gulp*

1. This is based on current Russian attrition rates.

Arguably any liberal democracy would be unable to send people to their slaughter for little military gain in the way Russia has.
Therefore our tactics would be less blunt and more considered.
