Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. Dad of 2 - likes photography - grad student studying leadership

Some of the more original, tastiest fusion fair food out there.
Yeah, it's a completely different world that it opens up. Even though I don't really do sports much, I still can't give up my old 400 2.8.

Won't replace my big wide aperture lenses, but way better to carry for fun.
Especially when you consider we haven't even gotten to pad our stats against Arch Manning yet.

I'm getting old, so I might just turn into a birder with it. First step will probably be taking the boy to Brazos Bend and shoot some gators.
A&M's Defense has held their SEC opponents to 1-25 on 3rd and 4th down conversions this season.

Planning to use this to look for wildlife while camping/hiking.

26.09.2025 02:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, the woodworking market, especially for cutting boards is WAY out of wack. Nice end grain boards are so time consuming to make, plus you need a nice saw, maybe a nice bandsaw, tons of clamps and glue. And there is so much waste wood. π
24.09.2025 13:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Another tough thing is the artist in them wants to control printing so the prints are good and on good paper, and 99% of people will get awful prints from the drug store, if they even print at all.
I recommend mpix.com for printing. They are consumer arm of my pro lab. Not an ad, just experience.
Editing on these is probably pretty quick, tbh. They will be super consistent, so as long as they aren't editing flyaways or runny noses, they probably just batch process them all.
Most photographers are bad at business. And often the buying options don't make sense or isn't want people want.
That is precious. They are at least putting in a lot of effort with the background and everything.
I would probably buy one or two and schedule a real session. I can help you find someone.
Your idea of sending to Grandma is a good one!
Yeah, I think these are fairly typical fees for people that do newborn/babies.
Typical consumer photography breakdown is the photographer keeps about 1/3rd. The other 2/3rd goes to taxes/expenses. So they are really only making like $12 on that $35 digital.
Assuming they run a legit business π
"Would almost rather just like hire someone to take ACTUAL family photos"
That is EXACTLY what you should do! You are going to probably end up spending a similar amount, but be able to get pics of all three (?) kids together, break into other groupings (you with each kid, etc.)
Yeah, really happy to not go that route. I know some photographers that made a decent living with lots of these pre-Ks and daycare type things. Most build out elaborate sets, not cool laser backgrounds like I got.
Big, soulless companies like Lifetouch do most of the big public schools.
Also, gotta do retake day.
I looked into it and met with some schools but noped out of it real quick.
Most school photographers don't get paid by the school, they actually have to kick back a flat fee or a percentage to have the honor of photographing everyone's kids. They are usually up fronting the costs/kickback and time/labor. Then the majority of people don't purchase.
