I think this is fairly accurate description of what’s happened for many skaters. The risk/reward ratio is reduced so much by isolated skatepark settings that they end up missing out on “real world” experiences.

They were certainly freaked out by the riots in LA and Memphis. They had the marches under control and killed the leaders that opposed them. What they couldn’t control was mass public rioting. Have you heard any of the Nixon tapes on them? You’re right, they were freaked out!

Fascists are generally unmoved by protests, no matter their size. They fear that they’ll spur riots. America has never been a peaceful nation, yet our protests have to be? This hasn’t always been the case. Early 20th century labor strikes, large scale rioting and violence were what spurred change.

ICE has already been to my city. I’m struggling to see how leaving a voice mail for a politician that may never be listened to is going to help anyone but the person’s conscience that’s making the call. They want you making phone calls because it’s ineffective and non-violent.

It most certainly worked in the early 20th century. Armed resistance is what led to nearly all our worker and civil rights we have today.
