The Key of Solomon, among some others, puts special significance on the parchment. Explaining in detail how it's supposed to be acquired and prepared. I think that alone sets it apart from ordinary materials like paper (which was around at the time) and even vellum acquired through other means.

On this episode of "Mercury gatorade isn't real" - My friend's house practically burned down due to electrical faults, and my house practically flooded. 😂😑

Unless the actual day given is wrong and he meant to write Sunday. The problem with that is he keeps saying "Wednesday" throughout the text.

I applied Regiomontanus. It does not change the chart much. And we still have to contend with the fact the text indicates it's a Wednesday but actually day on the 10th of March is a Sunday. Moving it a month forward gives us all the conditions stipulated in the text.

I'm beginning to think the scribe might not have been the originator of the material, possibly copying it from another source, because he would certainly have picked up on these discrepancies if he actually did the Astrological calculations for the seals.

The chart for the 3rd hour on the 10th of April 1641 in London, England, corresponds perfectly to the example seal given in the text for the 3rd hour. A ♊ Asc. gives us Mercury as the ruler, and puts ♈ in the 12th House.

So, for kicks, I went and cast charts for the 2nd and 3rd hour as well. It appears the scribe simply duplicated the first seal for the 2nd, which is supposed to look totally different as the heavens will have moved considerably by then.

So perhaps there's at least a possibility that the author got the date wrong.

I went ahead and cast a chart for the 1st hour on the 10th of April 1641, for London, England. It seems to line up with the conditions described in the text and illustration. Lord of the Asc. is Mars, and Aquarius is in 12th House.

I think the written instruction should be workable though, regardless of that error. So I'll try and follow that and see how I fare.

Yeah, I've been bumping up against that myself as I'm preparing to begin working with the Ars Paulina. I suspect perhaps the author miscalculated and actually meant the 10th of April, which does fall on a Wednesday, albeit a month later.

Keep in mind they were using a different calender, as noted by JHP.
