I managed to find the settings that kept the game extremely challenging, in the spirit of what they're trying to present, without letting it be brutally punishing/insurmountable. Made for a really rewarding experience.

It has some of the most granular difficulty settings of any game I've played. Pretty sure there are sliders for both enemy and player damage that can be adjusted in 10% increments (player damage can go up to... 150%? Maybe 200%). There may be some other tweaks I'm forgetting.

It's a really phenomenal game. Has a very central parrying mechanic, but I found if I turned the enemy damage slider to 60% I could get things right enough of the time and I wasn't getting offed after only a mistake or two.

Thank God Nine Sols had such robust difficulty sliders; my initial impression was "whelp, guess this game's not for me".
