So my first tip for this is just Read a Lot of Comics. have comics in your bookshelf (real or virtual) that you can flip through for inspiration and see how other artists are working and what/how they fit visuals into a panel. I read a lot of manga on my phone, and every time i see a page that--

So true! If you really like an author's (or any creator's) work, enthusiastically sharing your love will get more eyes on them and maybe even help build a lil' fandom to do fandom things in!

comic: the image zooms out and the background darkens as the person at the computer says "oh." text: I'm ashamed to admit that I cried. That reading this made me feel scared & small & alone. I felt paralyzed.

Comics are actually very difficult to write if you’re coming from a prose-writing background.

It’s a VERY different skillset from prose—in fact, it’s closer to writing a screenplay than a novel. You gotta know enough about film language and camera to make the comic panels & art *mean* something.
