As someone who was maybe too invested in the idea of "punk" in terms of identity when I was younger it's been fascinating seeing that term become a meaningless catch-all for literally anything. Superman. AI filmmaking. I blame the Subaru commercial from the 90s.

I saw the Simpsons movie in San Diego during comic con. When the character who owns a comic book store thinks the town is going to be destroyed and says “I look back now on a life collecting comic books and all I can say is…. LIFE WELL SPENT!” you could hear the explosive crowd cheering for blocks.

Just got my tentative schedule for Dragon Con and I'm once again excited to have so many opportunities to talk about so many of my weird niche interests on panel discussions. (And DJ a classic alternative rock dance party, too!) I don't think I'm supposed to post any of it publicly yet. Soon!

Seeing the New Bomb Turks last night has me listening to my Spotify playlist of 90s punk music. King of a cross-section of everything I liked in the genre (power violence, garage punk, riot grrrl, low-fi pop punk, hardcore) with none of the stuff I didn't like. Go and listen!

So great seeing the New Bomb Turks in Cambridge tonight. Still one of the best punk bands.

When the Jack Kirby/Stan Lee Fantastic Four comics really got cooking there was no better superhero comic book. "First Steps" never reaches those heights but it's a fun time at the movies. I dug the retro-futuristic 60s aesthetic but the movie felt rushed. Needed more Silver Surfer inner conflict.

My local repertory theater screened a double feature of this and Big Trouble in Little China a couple weeks back and that was one hell of an enjoyable night at the cinema.
