07.10.2025 01:48 — 👍 769 🔁 48 💬 76 📌 9Chicago is the greatest city in the world and what’s happening there is making my body physically hot and sore with rage. Every rich dentist in the Ohio exurbs with a barely touched jet ski voted for this because they led poor lives that are now nearly over. Chicago will outlast your boring anger.

19.09.2025 19:34 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The reckoning will come. It's time to choose what side of it you want to be on.
17.09.2025 15:20 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0In 30 years, I want my grandchildren to not be ashamed of me. I want to know I did what I could, and then some.
I know I want to be on the right side of history. Too many people in power right now are too fearful or too egotistical or too power-hungry to make that choice.
It's up to us.
They say history is written by the winners, but the truth always comes out.
There's always a reckoning and a reset. The pendulum will swing.
But until then, everyone has to make a choice. You can choose safety or despair or tolerance or indulging. Or you can choose what's right.
There is always a reckoning.
The right thing to do is never the easiest. It can come at a high cost. It can feel hopeless. But it's not.
Because there's always a reckoning.
It's always driven by those who paid the cost, who didn't give up, who did the right thing.
It's been 25 years since I graduated, I have forgotten so many of the details, but I remember the important parts:
Absolute power corrupts.
The real villains aren't the evil ones, but the ones who know better and look the other way.
And there's one lesson I took from EVERYTHING.
Letting 100 flowers bloom met Mao's ego and set off the Cultural Revolution. The courage of John Lewis, Prague Spring and the Velvet Revolution. The contradiction of Nixon, who empowered the "silent majority" (thanks dude) then created the EPA. The atrocities of Shining Path.
17.09.2025 15:20 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Why? At first because the classes were the ones available (yay large, public universities) but I stuck with it because I saw lessons from the clash of tragedy and progress, of analyzing how good intentions turned into authoritarianism, the passion of people who wanted better.
17.09.2025 15:20 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I think I'm going offline for awhile (no promises to all 30 of you...) so indulge me. I studied history in college. My concentration was post-WWII politics: Europe, China, Vietnam, the Civil Rights Movement and Latin America after 1945.

*They'll lose 1sts. As a Bucks fan, I know that's painful but a mild punishment for fraud.
deeply into this Pablo Torre Finds Out investigation into the Clippers' alleged attempts to circumvent the salary cap, but there's a broader point that I realized: this is another story about the .25% thinking the rules don't apply to them, and in the end, they're going to get away with it.
