Like there are barely intelligible native eng speakers and a whole slew of dialects so i get defensive of ppl w foreign accents. I taught ESL for like four years and even studied it so im very much for ppl sounding "bad" bc its the practice that helps them eventually sound "good" 😭

Also, i am not the right person to talk to about accents bc i am REALLY good at understanding thick accents so like im always down to help ppl improve their eng if they ask but im always giving the benefit of the doubt and encouraging ppl to just do their best (.◜◡◝)

True! I get more miffed by the "random cool english" than by entire songs in terrible english bc a whole song i can skip but that "Never Dont Mind About A Thing" has been killing my vibe whenever i listen to Call Me Baby for a near decade now 😭

That said, i respect the hell out of how Taeyong is determined to mispronounce every word in every language possible just to make it fit his flow bc it is HILARIOUS and no one is safe

i love hearing my favs covering songs in different languages bc it shows an interest in the world around them, outside of them, but a lot of these eng songs are clearly pushed by the company or the member's own bias towards whiteness which is yucky

I mean ive never been that annoyed by odd pronunciations but sometimes it really sounds clunky and awkward and i feel bad bc they prob also know it sounds bad 😭

Honestly, respect to these idols for embracing the cringe, that's one thing i really do respect about them. They really pour their all into their stage presence to pull off crazy concepts and do all this aegyo and i appreciate it bc it IS entertaining

sometimes i hear a demo of a kpop song and get upset bc its actually so good and the lyrics are so great but the label got their guys to make a bunch of nonsense instead bc, lets not forget, idol music is known for its nonsense/cringe lyrics in korean too

i know some seriously good kpop songs that are in english, Monsta X's All About Luv album is solid, and honestly atp weird english just feels like laziness or straight up "well *I* think this sounds cool" and the poor native speaker has to just grin and bear it

like in the whole grand scheme of the world its not a big issue but eng speakers are valid to be cringed out if not offended by how bad a lot of these groups's eng lyrics are, ESPECIALLY when they're buying their demos from mostly eng artists with eng lyrics already provided
