I heard a term today that resonated:

“Faux productivity”

Even with all the technological leaps most software leaves us in this state.

We all have our own paths to walk, but if you’re a designer unwilling to invest in new skills and technology, here is my advice:

Research graphic design’s transition to computers in the 80’s. Or prints transition to digital being prominent.

These shifts leave folks behind.

Sometimes AI just shows up. My 3 year old son’s current obsessions include cherry picker trucks and ballerinas. So I prompted ChatGPT to generate a coloring sheet. He’s going to flip when he sees it.

I read a ton of fantasy. I decided to give writing it a go over my vacation. Who knows where this will go? A short story, a book, a forgotten file on my Drive… No matter what it’s been a fun practice.

I just want Figma to be fast again.

I also have a shortcut that switches my background to a dark background based on the time of day

These small changes reduced my random app opens quite a bit

Now I typically only reach for Apps that aren't on my home screen when I need them

I have been trying to find meaningful ways to curb my phone usage, and implemented an impactful change:

1. Moved almost all Apps off my home screen by only utilizing one page

3. Removed the search bar
