The arts are essential, and I believe every child deserves access to an equitable and high-quality arts education. I am changing history in theatre and dance education by exposing my students to artists who look like them and providing a space where all students can dream big, make mistakes, laugh, cry, heal, and be their full, authentic, and unapologetic selves through the arts.

Black educators have always done more than teach. We carry history, culture, and responsibility in systems not built for us.

This BHM, I am highlighting Black educators making history right now. In classrooms. In schools. In communities.

If you are a Black educator, your work matters. We see you.

Day 2 of educator affirmation:

Your effort is real and it shows in ways people overlook.

It's real because you show up on days you're exhausted. It's real even on days no one acknowledges it. Keep showing up. Your current reality isn't permanent.

Pick 3 educators you follow and encourage them daily until Dec 19 please. If you know anything about this time of year - the kids tired, we tired, the kids turn all the way up, we have to cope.

Special blessings to those of us in middle school. Be blessed. #BlackEduSky #EduSky #iteachmath

Financial aid funding is the most immediate impact. It will decrease the amount students are eligible for. That can lead to students choosing not to enter into these fields. Guess which population of folk that will impact the most?
