Not that I disagree with your underlying point. The biggest issue over recent years in the UK is that income growth has stagnated whilst asset values have soared. The younger generation needs to piggyback on that in whatever way possible. Matching employer max pension contributions for a start.

The way to think about student loans nowadays is that you'll never pay it off. Think of it as a £200 a month tax for going to university and don't worry about the underlying figure. It won't affect your credit worthiness in the way a usual £50k debt would.
