I took Guitar my freshman year of high school, starting that September. I still remember the teacher's name: Steve Neft. He would transpose hit songs for us to play. Lots of stuff from these great albums.

With a late September birthday, the Wish Books came out too late for me to get the latest and greatest new stuff. That would have to wait for Christmas. #AT40

The 2006 #Tigers blew the division title in the final week of the regular season but beat the Yankees and A's to reach the World Series. Perhaps history will repeat itself. Hopefully with a better result.

EXHALE. Since I was exposed to them in 1965, the #Tigers have been brief flashes of brilliance interspersed with long periods of terribleness or flat-out mediocrity. And sometimes from one pitch to the next. But they somehow won't do things easily. Stupid silly wonderful baseball.

HEART ATTACK, #Tigers. Pitcher's fielding practice, please! At least he had the presence of mind to make a perfect throw to second. But that's two big runs that should never have scored.

Tommy Kahnle is going to be the death of me. And here we are in the eighth inning, which is the #Tigers implosion inning.

Tough pitches. But McKinstry has been ice cold anyway. And then Javy does Javy. Boy, you can never have enough insurance runs.

If MLB isn't going to sell the commercial time, just let the local ads run. The same three or four house promos have been running since March. It's embarrassing, especially since we PAY to listen to the local broadcast.

How many opportunities can the #Tigers squander before they don't have another game until March? This is brutal after such a good season to completely come apart offensively.

Detroit is going to leave more runners on than a field full of marathoners. Again.

That game pretty much summed up the #Tigers since the All-Star Break. The inability to get a clutch hit, leaving 15 runners on base. The inability of the bullpen to keep from imploding in the eighth inning. One more game, probably, and Detroit fans will have wasted their summer expecting much more.

Eighth. Inning. Again and again. Thanks, #Tigers.

Happiest of birthdays!

WE got the best Vest this evening.

Eighth inning? Time for the nightly #Tigers relief pitching implosion. Even a Las Vegas casino wired with explosives has a better chance of lasting the next 30 minutes.

How many times are the #Tigers going to let opposing pitchers off the hook with the bases loaded and less than two outs in September? Stop trying to hit a 42-run homer and put the damn ball in play somewhere. The strikeouts are killing me.

The Hindenburg as well.

The Tigers won the Series in 1945 when my father was 10. The Tigers won the Series in 1968 when I was 10. He did not warn me that the Tigers were actually a futile life-long obsession, especially since I never had children to pass the recessive gene.

Well, stick a fork in the #Tigers. They're cooked. Skubal has unraveled, the offense is moribund and they might not win another game in 2025. It's been fun until it hasn't.

Or at least a half dozen runs per game for the next week.

Just sweep the Guardians in Cleveland. Easy, peasy!

92-60 FINAL. An amazing game to attend! Two no-huddle offenses. Tons of long TD passes and runs. A kickoff return TD. And the Cadets had to do over 700 pushups because of all the scoring. (Plus, New London is a gorgeous place to watch a football game.)

That's so awesome. After three boys by birth, my parents adopted a baby girl in 1969. My sister Lisa has grown up to become a doctor in southeastern Missouri and I'm so proud of her.

You just never know about sportsball. Picked a random D3 football game to go to. Final score: U.S. Coast Guard Academy 92, Nichols University 60. Crazy number of touchdowns (and pushups by the cadets).

I remember the 70s perfectly. I just can't remember where I left my glasses. Or whether I had dinner.

Here's the bottom line for the #Tigers. If you can't win at least one game at home against the Guardians with Mize, Flaherty and Skubal pitching, you aren't going far in the postseason, whether you eventually win the division or get a bye. 26-30 since the All-Star Break isn't a glitch any more.

This has been a great season to be a #Tigers fan but there's a gnawing feeling that they're about to choke away the division against an experienced Guardians team that has gotten into their heads. If they blow this, it'll hurt bad.

Way to go, #Tigers bullpen. Just blow up like a kid's party balloon in extra innings. Cleveland obviously is in their heads since last year's postseason, especially Kwan.
