I concluded my visit to the Western Balkans by hosting a dinner with the region’s six leaders.

There is a new momentum in enlargement. Our further efforts to progress towards accession need to be guided by two core principles: consistency and trust.

The Western Balkans are part of the European family.
Our security is inseparable. Our cooperation is essential.

Today in Rome, I underlined this shared security perspective and our hope for real progress in the next five years on EU enlargement, based on progress with reforms.

Shocked and deeply saddened by the shooting in Örebro, Sweden.

Schools should be safe spaces for learning, not places of violence.

My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all affected.

We stand united with Sweden in this dark moment.

In these uncertain times, more than ever, we need to work together.
I am looking forward to our EU-#WesternBalkans summit on 18 December in Brussels.

It was a pleasure to meet you again Andrej Plenković and discuss EU enlargement.

We both agreed the accession process has a truly transformative effect in the Western Balkans.

For the EU and the region, it brings security and economic growth.

Today, we have opened formal proceedings against TikTok for a suspected breach of the Digital Services Act regarding its obligation to assess and mitigate systemic risks linked to election integrity, notably in the context of the recent Romanian presidential elections.

It is a new chapter in the cooperation between friends and allies.

Today, with Ministers Igli Hasani and Pirro Vengu, we signed the Security and Defence Partnership between the EU and Albania.

I was also pleased to discuss with Prime Minister Edi Rama Albania’s steady progress on the EU path.

1. How could Norway be naive to believe that the Serbian government would only use this organized crime?
2. How can autocratic governments, like Serbia, can abuse EU enlargement for their own benefit.
3. How a security focus in assistance can be misused.

Just delivered my 1st speech as Commissioner for Competition at #CRAbrussels2024. Emphasised the need for adapted competition policy to drive innovation, growth & a decarbonised Europe. Innovation happens faster than ever. Markets evolve faster. We must keep up as regulators & policymakers.

The fall of Assad’s criminal regime marks a historic moment for the Syrian people.

We urge all actors to avoid any further violence, to ensure the protection of civilians, and to uphold international law.
