I plan on sharing some old #art and #doodles! This here is a doodle I haven’t shared yet, from a long while back! I’m amazed I haven’t lost the square or the sketchbook it’s from!

Tile mosaic featuring a swallowtail butterfly and wild sunflowers. Tiles are all hand cut and glazed. The 40 cm square mosaic is framed in cedar and mounted on a steel rectangle in the garden. Surrounded by a snowy scene this December.

Made this 40cm (16 in.) outdoor tile mosaic to remember summer’s swallowtail butterflies and wild sunflowers on wintry days like today. ❄️
Each tile is hand cut from rolled clay, then glazed and fired to 1180°C (2160°F) before mounting in mortar and grout.
