After 20+ years as a dedicated reader and sassy commenter, I'm thrilled to have my first post up on The Beat. I wrote a historical recap / review of Albert Pyun's director's cut of his 90s Captain America movie. Thanks to @comixace.bsky.social and @patrickryoung.bsky.social of Big Bad Film Fest.

They're still in there but the most fascinating thing about the Director's Cut is how the pacing and emotional character arcs make it so you're more engrossed in the story and less worried about that stuff.

Great piece by @nickmarino.bsky.social about the 1990 Captain America movie - long considered among the very worst superhero movies of all times, an unearthed director's cut - which the director carried around in film cans with him until the day he died - is casting it in a new light.
