@dobberhockey.bsky.social your AMAZING player usage chart should read OZ faceoff % instead of OZ start % (or you might want to modify the chart to include OZ start % instead, might be more accurate if you want to take d-zone faceoffs as a result of icing out of the equation...)
07.02.2026 23:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0kind of funny that an olympian said they are here to represent "compassion, respect, and love for others" and some people automatically knew that was a statement against them
07.02.2026 22:25 β π 39692 π 7209 π¬ 305 π 144made me realized this chart is showing offensive zone *faceoffs* start % and not offensive zone start %. Ovechkin had no d-zone start this season, so the % should be 100%.
Therefore the chart should read OZ faceoff %, not OZ start %

Amazing improvement on defensive impact vs last season
Good news for team Canada, I guess

Iβll add that NHL players can be scratched or disciplined for something as simple as being late to a team meeting, so the idea that Danault would go rogue in OT is highly unlikely. Thatβs not something professional NHL players do without facing real consequences.
04.02.2026 13:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Suggesting Danault ignored MSLβs instructions makes little sense imo. Whatever his feelings about his role over the years, he did what he was asked to do on the ice. Claiming otherwise is a stretch. Danaultβs career was built on coaches trusting him so he wouldnβt jeopardize that.
03.02.2026 23:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0When you listen to MSL during media availability, itβs clear heβs very deliberate about what players are supposed to do after a faceoff, win or lose. Itβs far more likely Danault was instructed to change if he won the draw, or stay and help regain possession if he lost it.
03.02.2026 23:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Calling Danault "selfish" and claiming he "refused to accept his role" is another unsubstantiated claim by Brian Wilde. Itβs extremely unlikely Danault stayed on the ice against MSLβs instructions. As a defensive specialist heβs one of the best-suited player to regain possession after a lost faceoff

28.01.2026 14:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Since 2022-23, Jake Evans leads the team with 6 4v4 points
In terms of production rate, that puts him somewhere between Pastrnak and McDavid
(this isn't serious, small sample size and all, but kinda fun - for me anyway π
)
No and he had a few 1st stars over the years.
28.01.2026 03:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Of all the players this season that took over 100 SH faceoffs, Evans ranks 3rd with 57.6% (for comparison, Danault is at 46.8% this season - SH faceoffs are harder to win).
25.01.2026 15:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Jake Evans since coming back from injury:
πΈxGF% 66.45 (2nd)
πΈ59.1% faceoffs (1st)
πΈ2nd most d-zone start %
πΈ2nd lowest offensive zone start
πΈ2nd lowest xGA/60 (1.36) while playing 42% of his 5v5 TOI against elite competition
But yeah, he's now trash because of one bad play on the PK against Boston.
So far this season Veleno-Evans played 100 minutes together with xGA/60 of 1.63.
Pleasantly surprised, this was not the shut-down duo I was expecting.
The VelenoβEvansβBolduc line played 26 minutes so far, facing 45% elite competition (same as the Suzuki line) while posting a 1.78 xGA/60 and a 60.5% xGF%, while often starting in the d-zone.
The sample size is still very small, but those are elite defensive results against difficult competition.
