There's lots smarter than me in here to better explain it but basically -he already IS Prime Minister. We don't have 'terms', basically MPs assume their role in Parliament upon being elected. If Poilievre had been projected as PM, he would assume the office basically straight away - not months later

Trump 2.0 is actually GOOD for the left because it exposes MAGA et al as being false idols - and the current Canadian election is the testing ground for this theory. I'd love to read an op ed / explore this idea.

Note from a Canadian: our "Liberal" party gets its name from 'liberty'. It's a centrist party, with 2 (maybe 3 if you count the Bloc) parties further left politically. Common American misunderstanding that hasn't mattered until these crazy times.

I had to dive into Twitter tonight too... glad to be (mostly) gone

Embarrassed and frustrated that my MLA, Tara Armstrong, has voted against measures condemning Trump's tariffs in an obvious attempt to get her name in the news (it worked). She must need the publicity since she doesn't even have a constituency office in her home riding and hides behind a keyboard.

It's amazing the self confidence boost one can get from a new shirt.

I'd love Canada's response to Trump from this moment to be absolute silence. This bully uses bluster and intimidation just so he feels good.

I find comfort that, people heard her, came to a snap judgement (singing/pitch was off, lyrics "wrong") only to have more sensible, better informed voices note after that
- she had 0 backup or support
- the lyric change was a subtle political protest

Turns out we CAN collectively change our minds!
