National Reading Month is fast approaching, & this special time in March is devoted to inspiring children, families & communities to make reading a part of their everyday routine. One of my favorite activities is visiting elementary schools in my District & reading aloud to our young students.

I recently organized a bipartisan Brunch & Learn event titled “Surveillance Cameras in Our Community: What We Need to Know” for elected officials & legislative staff in Lansing. The ACLU delivered an insightful presentation.

Rosedale Reads is hosting its 3rd Annual Black History Month Discussion, featuring Detroit historian & author Ken Coleman. Mr. Coleman is a former senior editor at the Michigan Chronicle, serves as a segment host for American Black Journal on Detroit Public Television & has written 4 books.
