"sweet danger" feels very much like a result of creating music in collaboration with the visual medium, which I really like. The slow realization and dread that occurs with the early parts, the transition into the tense excitement in the middle... so good

Reading interviews, it seems like Ushio himself also felt a sense of accomplishment with the soundtrack, being able to incorporate the styles he'd experimented with over the years.

And it's fascinating how so many of Gridman's sensibilities are still on display despite (or perhaps because of?) the very simple style.
Amemiya kept on emphasizing the word "primitive" and how it applies to his ideal method/style of making anime, and I think I kind of get it now that I see what the show looks like.
With how he's handling most of the major roles WRT production, the work ends up being "pure"-
I thought it was primarily referring to how individuals could have different sides to them that you can only notice after seeing them from different angles (e.g. through the eyes of different people), but it seems to be a play on the simple animation style as well? Cute!

In the stream Amemiya talked about the title coming from lenticular prints, and how that could be thought of as the first piece of "animation" that many people come into contact with, composed of only two images that change depending on the viewing angle

Apparently the sound getting muffled during a black screen was Ushio's idea as well. Really loved that moment, so good to know.
Before even getting into the narrative, characters, etc. it's just a fantastic audiovisual experience in general.
Love it when film-scoring leads to unorthodox-ish pieces of music.
From interviews it seems like Yasushi Nagura allowed Ushio to have greater freedom compared to the average composer (partly thanks to the A Silent Voice/Liz connection).

"in the pool" and "Reze" are probably the obvious standouts of Ushio's soundtrack for Reze, but I also really dig tracks like "sweet danger" where there's a clear juxtaposition between sounds and moods as a result of the synergy between the film itself and the music.

What's also interesting is that there is no official Japanese Bluesky account on the other hand (they do have JP Twitter, Instagram, Threads and TikTok accounts though, while EN is limited to just Twitter and Bluesky).
Really curious about how they ended up doing it this way.
Kyoani choosing to create an official English account for Denmoku/Sparks of Tomorrow on Bluesky is fascinating. Would love to see more anime do the same honestly.
