2. What Epstein wrote to Thiel in 2016 lines up with what he wrote to his business partner Ehud Barak in 2014: β€œwith civil unrest exploding in ukraine syria, somolia [sic], libya, and the desperation of those in power, isn’t this perfect for you.” Social collapse is a business opportunity.

how can we suffer these people to live among us, let alone purport to rule us? they're not just our enemies. they're an affront to the human experiment. they're hostile to all life not their own. they'd burn any number of us alive to avoid even a moment of mild discomfort. hideous

this stuff has really broken me. it's simply astounding that so many people who have been allowed to amass unimaginable wealth are so droolingly stupid, so unmoored from and in fact hostile to any sense of community or social responsibility, and oh by the way they love to constantly rape children

That which is for me through the medium of money - that for which I can pay (i.e., which money can buy) - that am I myself, the possessor of the money. The extent of the power of money is the extent of my power. Money's properties are my - the possessor's - properties and essential powers. Thus, what I am and am capable of is by no means determined by my individuality. I am ugly, but I can buy for myself the most beautiful of women.
Therefore I am not ugly, for the effect of ugliness - its deterrent power - is nullified by money. I, according to my individual characteristics, am lame, but money furnishes me with twenty-four feet.
Therefore I am not lame. I am bad, dishonest, unscrupulous, stupid; but money is honoured, and hence its possessor. Money is the supreme good, therefore its possessor is good. Money, besides, saves me the trouble of being dishonest: I am therefore presumed honest. I am brainless, but money is the real brain of all things and how then should its possessor be brainless? Besides, he can buy clever people for himself, and is he who has [In the manuscript: is. - Ed.] power over the clever not more clever than the clever? Do not I, who thanks to money am capable of all that the human heart longs for, possess all human capacities? Does not my money, therefore, transform all my incapacities into their contrary?

As a side note, it’s funny to see so many of these emails with thirsty academics repeatedly enact Marx’s bit in the 1844 Manuscripts about the power of money. β€œOh Mr Epstein, your house in New York is enormous and, unrelatedly, your questions at dinner were so intelligent, so insightful, so deep.”

Brazil Is Set for a Battery Boom. China Is Poised to Benefit Multiple Chinese companies, including Huawei, are expected to bid in an upcoming Brazilian energy-storage auction.

Between 2007 and 2024, power-sector projects accounted for 45% of China’s investments in Latin America’s largest economy, totaling $35 billion. So now that Brazil needs batteries for the grid, guess who is set to benefit?
