It's a croissant to #rustlang type of day

Helix! On Alacritty
02.08.2025 23:05 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Spent almost half of the day today doing a major #rustlang refactoring for @monitorbolt.bsky.social!
Should make it more scalable for the long term!
#buildinpublic
Agreed! I like how Rust encourages you to write better code and documentation too!

Such is life,
And such is #rustlang
๐
this should have been the default lol

31.07.2025 00:17 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I love Rust
30.07.2025 13:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Definitely try this one out!
Especially if you're coming from the React ecosystem and also picking up #rustlang!
:D
1st thing I noticed - too much scaffolding!
It's just my personal preference but I prefer to be explicitly selective about what (packages) I put into my project ๐
Oh well work is work zzzzz

28.07.2025 10:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm trying out Laravel (PHP) today for work purposes...
Wish me luck fellow rustaceans LOL
#rustlang
You have got to admit that PHP is awesome for still being used by many to this day.
I wish that for #rustlang too.
We shall see ๐
Hate is a very strong word ๐

I'm bullish on #rustlang.
We're not the same
Haha thanks! Most likely a soft launch of sorts ๐
23.07.2025 00:56 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I know that the progress behind @monitorbolt.bsky.social isn't ideal.
I get to work on it maybe 30mins - 1 hour daily after work & after taking care of my baby.
But a small #rustlang progress daily will hopefully bring us closer to e day I can launch/get it into people's hands.
Fingers crossed ๐ค
Not very happy with myself today...
Wasn't productive much and couldn't resolve 1 of the issues at work that has been bugging me :D
I love this community #rustlang
21.07.2025 11:26 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Good point!
I did it with the assumption and calculation that I'm not on the free tier anymore ๐
So instead of spending $10/mth on AWS Elasticache, I built a #rustlang lambda function that runs every second (only takes 200ms) for checking expired tokens.
1) It costs almost nothing
2) I gained knowledge/experience doing it
3) Saved $120 USD/year
I call it a win for @monitorbolt.bsky.social ๐
I'm curious myself too ๐
To be fair, sqlx has a better developer experience though
Was setting up a new lambda function for @monitorbolt.bsky.social , and using 2 different #rustlang crates (namely sqlx and tokio-postgres).
While they are both blazingly fast for a simple query, tokio-postgres spent only around 100ms while sqlx took 2x the amount of time (200ms +)!
I wonder why ๐ค
If you didn't know, AWS's RDS Data API/SDK only works if you have a cluster.
If you only need a single DB instance (which saves you like 9x the costs compared to a cluster), you'll have to try your luck with another option.
Luckily for #rustlang, you can use crates such as tokio-postgres or sqlx!
Oh boi
19.07.2025 06:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0So Amazon just announced S3 Vectors!
What does this mean for the various vector db options out there? ๐ค
aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/in...
For sure! That's something worth learning too ๐
