In other malignancies, like breast cancer, TP53 is not routinely testing (despite being common).

Reliably testing TP53 in breast cancer with IHC in breast cancer was difficult, but now that we have NGS and circulating tumor cells, should we look into this again?

The answer is absolutely!!!

Reviewing next generation sequencing (NGS) from patients in the clinic is always interesting.

So many TP53 mutations and all of them seem different from patient to patient.

From CLL to uterine cancer, TP53 is used to risk stratify many cancer types. TP53 is anywhere you look!

Using the SEER database we are finding significant difference in pathological complete response between Black and White women with early stage Breast Cancer. Achieving pCR equalizes outcomes when all groups are combined.

Presented at #SABCS24:

This clinical trial found that among women with low-risk DCIS, active monitoring did not lead to higher rates of invasive breast cancer vs those who received guideline-concordant care.

Some results from our poster using the SEER database looking into outcomes disparities by race and socioeconomic status. Low socioeconomic status (SEE) means lower survival. When we stratify by race, Low SES means higher hazard risk of death in White and Hispanics but not in Black patients. #ASH

Today the UConn heme/onc fellows had our first book club session. Lots of interesting conversations from this book which is basically a classic for anyone training in cancer.

Tomorrow morning we will have our Global Oncology and disparities of care program!

Genetic testing/counseling for patients at risk is common in the US, but great opportunity to learn about their implementation in LMICs.
