Mariners fans don’t talk about anything right now.

Like the Greek gods of yore, the baseball gods don’t look kindly on hubris… it’s just with the Mariners that seems to be seen as expressing any type of positivity or hope.

Grief will ache…. But grief is not for others, it is entirely about our own sense of our hurt and loss.

Grief means we are open to listening to our own feelings even in hurt and loss.

It also pointe us to those things that remind us it’s okay to feel.

Totally! It’s just a way of experiencing the world ffs.

I know a guy who covers his other harmful problems by claiming “autism made me do it”… but the day he called himself an autism “sufferer” I knew he was likely faking it.

Doing the right thing tomorrow is definitely not doing the easy thing.

Maybe it’s not getting worse. Maybe it’s just the end of bad.

Just making that statement deserves applause. Many of us feel this way and don’t dare speak truth to it. You’re very brave.

Love yourself to the max and make sure everyone else does too… don’t accept any less back than you are willing to give.

Remember the hope of the sunflowers started with despair and hopelessness.

Something will happen. The KMT will misread this as an endorsement, and people will rise up using their new networks to enact change.

As I think about it for a while… it is not all dark. I think I see a rewiring of politics in Taiwan where people who have not always felt they shared interests connected.

It continues the trend that started with the sunflowers as the divisions were no longer ethnic, but class.

The Match Cafe in Taichung is not only a politically progressive workspace in the shadow of Taichung’s iconic Golden Jaguar… they also have a very fine and quite boozy tiramisu.

You know it’s something really great when you get northern Vietnamese food like this for a casual outdoor lunch in Taichung.

The colonizing process fits the framework of a) Identifying the object as inferior and in need of transformation into something “better… and b) Improvable into something “better” through a state directed project.

Neighborhood temples are often far more interesting that the larger and more famous temples. These are the everyday, low-key sites of private communion.

I’ve enjoyed a week of visiting my neighborhood sites of worship and paying more attention to these quiet focal points in the community.

While it’s not a total surprise…. The KMT has just committed to a tactical mistake in their opposition to the recall.

Rather than staying quiet and letting the public forget why a recall is so important… they are going to hold a “mass rally” on 7/25 to remind everyone to recall them.
