Happy Valentine's Day, comic lovers!

A lot of them come in sealed packaging too so the collector will never even get to see the cool vinyl, let alone listen to it. I made a decision early on with my action figures that I was going to crack them open so that I could *ahem* “fully appreciate their functionality”.

I think this is a good point. Especially when you consider all the variants that get released, coloured/picture/patterned vinyl, bonus tracks, etc. And when nearly every track is available digitally, it’s only certain audiophiles who’ll bother going to the trouble of getting a decent record player.

Can’t sleep and still angry about the horrible treatment of Belinda Chandra, just the latest in a long line of female characters done dirty by RTD in Doctor Who. It’s like he’s got a pathological need to give them crappy endings. It absolutely infuriates me. Too angry to sleep now. #DoctorWho

Yes! That’s the thing with Doctor Who, especially the original series. It doesn’t matter if the sets or costumes looked shonky. It was all about the story.

Hmm. “Camp for straight people” as Paul Magrs said recently. It feels like something happened with Millie Gibson and RTD doesn’t it? Seems to me that Ruby gets sidelined. I don’t think the Disney situation is an excuse for his ham-fisted treatment of female characters.

The sainted Rose is the exception of course. Gets a new life and her own David Tennant Doctor to share it with. As does Donna… eventually, (still doesn’t make up for the initial brain-fuckery).

But seriously, I know. Just got bored after four hours of laying in the dark doing nothing. Also needed to interrupt the repetitive thought cycles. At least I put my night filter on. What’s a boy supposed to do? (No books to hand ☹️)

Can’t sleep. Got a podcast to record tonight and a boiler safety inspection (which will be fine) this afternoon, so my brain has gifted me the power of deep thought and immunity to unconsciousness. Great stuff. So lucky.

I liked the film’s framing. Felt like grabbing a comics omnibus off the shelf and reading it. Didn’t need any preamble or all the origin stuff again at all.

That framing, depth, and lighting is masterful. The colour and contrast too. What an artist. I’ve spent so many hours poring over the Dalek Chronicles in awe.
