I also called and had some sympathy for the person on the other end of the line who sounded very tired even as I made my point. I got through in less than 30 seconds. I'm barely hanging on to Netflix as it is and I've had my subscription since DVD days.

I went to the first No Kings protest in my area with a group of friends and did not sign up beforehand. Left the phone at home and masked up (because it's what I do). Promptly skipped out of the speeches the minute we got to the end point. I figure I'd played with fate just long enough.

We have the wonderful @oaklandballers.bsky.social in the Pioneer League playoffs to look forward to tomorrow and Friday.

I lost my brother to AIDS in 1990. I never thought I'd see it in my lifetime either.

I'm still wondering how no one went to jail for that

I moved from there well over 30 years ago. But it was a good place to grow up. Sadly though it was hit by a lot of gentrification which hit everyone across the board regardless of race. I think only one friend of mine from high school was able to buy a house before prices went sky high.

I grew up in Montclair, NJ so no WaWa but "turn right at Lakawana Plaza then get on Orange Road and stay on it until the South End," was the equivalent for me at the time.

Depending on where you live, your life might be guided by public transit routes. I was on NJ Transit buses to go to school across town by the time I was seven. I knew my route and landmarks. When I went to high school and started walking home, it was easy to navigate because I knew the route.

I love how all the other workers around her are making sure she looks great as she studies.

In the United States, we have/had women in all kinds of regressive movements and it's absolutely important to point it out. Especially now.

I read his GQ interview, and dude has his own version of awareness about the world which I can appreciate. Also, he's kinda goofy, which I can also appreciate.

Absolutely. There's also the fact that even if we don't have a direct connection, somehow we come up with a way to make a dish and someone says, "You know, such and such used to make it just like that."

Exactly. I grew up on a lot of different types of foods for that very reason. My mom had her favorite places for Italian-style cookies and Irish soda bread, if someone at my Catholic school didn't make it already.

I don't know why people try to fool with you about food.

Before I noticed that it said "Morrisons's" at the top, the color scheme made me think it was a Go Fund Me. Then I wanted to know who needed a Go Fund Me for scones. lol.

I wish I could say I was surprised by the sheer audacity of the MLB and then I remember we're dealing with millionaire owners over all.

It was disheartening to put the names of author friends into that search and see how much of their work pops up

I've been wondering why people were so high on them because every time I heard them say anything, they had nothing substantial to offer post-election
The worst case of riding coattails I've seen in a while.

What I've seen is whenever she's popped up somewhere, she takes the time to greet people and give an encouraging talk.

My mother died from pancreatic cancer the day before I graduated from college in 1988. I would have sold my soul for her to have had a shot at a cure. I hope other people get to have a chance for one.

folks tried to blame Black people. When the dust settled, that wasn't the case at all. The voting in 2008 onward has been harrowing here.

I keep trying to tell people this about California. We're not totally fucked because of who is in the statehouse now. But with Gavin flirting rightward, and us dead in the sights of some billionaires, we've got a long hard fight ahead of us. And folks need to remember, when Prop 8 passed,

No one can save white women from white women except white women. And I know how that sounds, but the way the polls looked? White women voted to destroy their own human rights in the interest of sabotaging everyone else. You can't fix that from the outside.

Which then results in her having to resolve the backspash issue.

Although, I was not mad about the homage to Airport 1975 during Athena's last perilous moment. However, can we just have an episode of her and Bobby finally making a decision on a house? A fight about a backsplash or something? Maybe May shows up (after calling) to say, "House looks good."

I found it interesting that we heard next to nothing about the political wins in the south after the November election. They may not have been seen as significant on a national scale but they showed what to do locally and they gave me hope. I am here for learning more about fighting like that.

I honestly need two things from 9-1-1 now: no more Maddie peril, and no more Buck meltdowns (I'd be happy for him to get lost somewhere). I also want Athena to finally become a detective and have a decent story line.
