An illegal law, an immoral ruling, and a whole bunch of billionaires cheering behind the scenes. Yet leaders are perplexed that average Americans rallied behind Luigi.

Tulsa Massacre Was a β€˜Coordinated, Military-Style Attack,’ Federal Report Says The Justice Department’s conclusion follows an investigation of the 1921 atrocity in Oklahoma in which up to 300 Black residents were killed.

The Tulsa Race Massacre was not committed by an uncontrolled mob but was the result of β€œa coordinated, military-style attack” by white citizens, the Justice Department said in a report. It was the first time the U.S. government has given an official account of the 1921 massacre of Black residents.

The government's attorney is making the argument that a foreign adversary could weaponize a platform to push subversive content in order to influence the user base. Um... Twitter, anyone? Facebook (while not foreign) has a lot of sway.

I find myself listening to the TikTok arguments in the #SCOTUS this morning, completely perplexed by some of the arguments being raised by the justices. For all the issues they're asking about, I can't help but ask, what about Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and every other social media network?

You can't tell me that there's not at least some awkwardness at President Carter's funeral today. However, it's nice seeing all the former Presidents, most of the Vice Presidents and first/second ladies in attendance. More than anything, it's a reminder that these folks are human, not all powerful.

Former President Jimmy Carter, who died on Dec. 29 at age 100, was transported to the U.S. Capitol, where he will lie in state for a day and a half in the Rotunda. After a formal state funeral on Thursday, he will be buried in his hometown, Plains, Georgia, beside his wife, Rosalynn. nyti.ms/3BXiU6O

I didn’t think we’d start 2025 with #JustinTrudeau resigning as Prime Minister that I think that this is long overdue. From an outside perspective, it seems like #Canada is stagnating.

Of course the US has own problems, but I do hope that our northern neighbors can right their ship soon.

My wife and I have been attending Regal's 2023 Studio Ghibli Fest in anticipation of their new release: The Boy and the Heron. After many months of waiting, we finally get to see the film this evening. Films & theater are one of my great passions. Here's hoping to another winner from Studio Ghibli.

These 112 House Republicans β€” and 2 Democrats β€” voted against expelling George Santos despite a ... Even in the wake of a damning report from the House Ethics Committee, many Republicans argued that expelling Santos sets a bad precedent.

Out of curiosity, here's an article discussing who voted against expelling George Santos. The vote was 311 for, 114 against, and 2 present. Interestingly, 2 against votes and the 2 present votes were from Democrats. I hope we learn why, but this is curious.

Thank you for sharing this article! Even at 25 years old I think that it still holds some great analysis of O'Connor's work on the Supreme Court.

And now we can only ask that Congress continue to excise bad actors who aren't serving in our best interests.

At a time when 26% of Americans have any trust or faith in our Congress, I think this gives us something to appreciate & respect. When we are bombarded with stories about Members of Congress defrauding taxpayers, enriching themselves, & passing mortally absent laws this vote should be seen as a win.

Seriously though, it's great to see that so many came together to remove this tumor from our Federal Legislature. Following initial concerns and reports about Santos's activities and rumors, I was quite skeptical that we'd see any definitive action.

With a vote of 311 - 114 George Santos is finally expelled from the House. It's not all bad though, George has secured his place in the history books.

Interestingly, it's only been 21 years since the last expulsion. Perhaps we can see more liars and frauds removed in the future?

Sandra Day O'Connor has passed away today. She was 93 and has the distinction of being the first woman to be appointed to the Supreme Court. She is also one of the 5 justices who ruled in favor of then-candidate Bush in Bush v Gore. There's no question that she's had a lasting impact on our nation.

β€œHis death was announced in a statement by his consulting firm, which did not give a cause.” I’ll give you 100 guesses.

But anyway, this article did a respect job as detailing some of his many β€œaccomplishments”.

I wonder how we’ll judge him in the coming years. Not well I’d imagine…

As the only person ever to be White House national security adviser and secretary of state at the same time, he exercised a control over U.S. foreign policy that has rarely been equaled by anyone who was not president.

He and Vietnam’s Le Duc Tho shared the Nobel Peace Prize for the secret negotiations that produced the 1973 Paris agreement and ended U.S. military participation in the Vietnam War. His famous β€œshuttle diplomacy” after the 1973 Middle East war helped stabilize relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors.

As the impresario of Nixon’s historic opening to China and as the theoretician of dΓ©tente with the Soviet Union, Dr. Kissinger earned much of the credit for seismic policy shifts that redirected the course of world affairs.

With his German accent, incisive wit, owlish looks and zest for socializing in Hollywood and dating movie stars, he was instantly recognized all over the world, in stark contrast to most of his understated predecessors. Shamelessly courting pub

I would accuse Henry Kissinger of many things, but a "coldblooded pragmatism" is probably not the way I'd phrase that...
