Now that I've had the chance to check the Zoom data, I can say that our Pre- & Early Dynastic Egypt study day was attended by 262 people (210 online and 52 in person) from across 29 countries. Thanks to all who attended! #Impact #Engagement #Research

Moving on to analysis of copper axe heads in @theegyptcentre.bsky.social, which have been the subject of a study by Martin Odler.

More analysis of vessel content from Tarkhan (grave 7), this time by Aron O'Shea. Here he is presenting on a cylindrical vessel in @theegyptcentre.bsky.social!

On to Lisa Mawdsley (talk read by Emily Tour) who is talking about the contents of a pottery vessel from grave 315 at Tarkhan, which is now in @theegyptcentre.bsky.social!

Now for the handling session in which participants get the opportunity to handle some of the objects from @theegyptcentre.bsky.social being discussed during our study day!

Final talk of the morning session with Maria Gatto presenting on the early Nubian cemetery at Armant. This was excavated by @theees.bsky.social in the 1930s and remains unpublished (for now...). Many of the objects from this excavation are now in @theegyptcentre.bsky.social!

Renee Friedman presenting on the so-called "fort" at Hierakonpolis. Great to see some of @theegyptcentre.bsky.social's ceramics from the site featured. Some of these will be available for handling during our lunch break!

Christian Knoblauch up next talking about a new funerary enclosure of Narmer at Abydos. Or is it...

Next up is Christiana Köhler who is presenting brand new research on her recent excavations of the tomb of Meret-Neith at Abydos. Fascinating stuff!
